Michael J. Casey is a journalist, podcaster and media leader. As CoinDesk’s chief content officer, he oversaw a newsroom that won three awards, including the prestigious Gerald Loeb award, for coverage that led to the downfall of crypto exchange FTX. He now serves as an advisor to CoinDesk’s management and has retained a role as the chair and host of Consensus, CoinDesk’s marquee annual conference. He is also the co-host of the media outlet’s Money Reimagined podcast. Before joining CoinDesk, Casey was a founding staffer at MIT Media Labs’s Digital Currency Initiative and a senior lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management. He also spent 18 years at The Wall Street Journal, where his last position was as a senior columnist covering global economic affairs. Casey has authored six acclaimed books. His latest is Our Biggest Fight: Reclaiming Liberty, Dignity and Humanity in the Digital Age, which he co-authored with the civc entrepreneur and Project Liberty founder, Frank H. McCourt.
